Does New World develop applications that do not involve special hardware?

Yes, many of the programs developed by New World require no special hardware.  Among others we have developed communications, database, graphing, data processing, and speech recognition programs.  We are available to discuss any applications you may have.

 

Does New World have the proper lab equipment to develop my embedded system?

Our lab is well equipped and can handle most embedded system needs.  We have an oscilloscope, logic analyzer, function generator, EPROM programmer and eraser, several lab power supplies, and meters. If your project requires special purpose equipment contact us to see if we can get it.  Alternatively, we could perform the work in your lab.

What language should I use to develop my PC Based instrumentation applications?

Ultimately this question depends on a number of application and company specific factors but most instrumentation applications are written in C, Visual Basic, or LabVIEW.  This is because of their rapid application development time and broad use.  Often the availability of software development drivers for certain hardware in your system will help narrow down the available options.  Whether or not you have already chosen a language, contact New World to see if we can help.

 

 

What language should I use to develop my applications that do not involve instrumentation or control?

Again, this question depends on a number of application and company specific factors.  Each language has it's strengths and weaknesses. Visual Basic is well known for it's Rapid Application Development (RAD).  Applications written in early versions of Visual Basic ran significantly slower than other languages but since VB version 5.0 the speed gap has closed considerably.  C and C++ give the programmer incredible flexibility.  LabVIEW's graphical development environment allows even non-programmers to effectively create useful applications.  LabVIEW however is best suited for instrumentation applications.  Java is an excellent language for web based applications.  C# (pronounced C sharp) is a new language from Microsoft.  The goal in its development was to give the programmer the power of C/C++ with the rapid development time of Visual Basic.  Numerous other languages are available such as Fortran, Pascal, and Assembly.  They are not as popular as they once were but each is still used.
